If you’re looking for a gorgeous, easy hike for kids in Red Rock Canyon, I highly recommend Lost Creek Children’s Discovery Trail. It’s a .60 mile loop trail and it took us 45 minutes to complete. We love this trail!
On the hike you’ll see beautiful mountains, greenery, and even a stream. They have educational signs along the way as well.
There are no cliffs or high drop offs to worry about. There are some higher elevations/hills you still need to be cautious about with kids but overall it’s a safe hike for young kids.
The ground is a mix of flat gravel areas and larger rock stairs/paths, so it’s not stroller friendly.
How to get there
It’s located in the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive. You’ll turn off where it says Willow Springs Picnic Area/ Lost Creek Children’s Discovery Trail.
Fee
You will need to pay the Red Rock Canyon entry fee — it’s $15 per car (plus a $2 reservation fee). If you’re planning on visiting Red Rock Canyon more than twice in a year I recommend getting the annual pass for $30.
October 1 - May 31 you MUST make a reservation online at recreation.gov before visiting.
Parking
There is a parking lot with several spots, but parking in Red Rock Canyon fills up fast so I recommend getting there early in the morning.
Bathrooms
There are bathrooms at the start/end of the trail.
Cell Service
You will have little or no cell service so plan ahead!
