We took a day trip to Boulder City and I absolutely loved its small-town charm.
Here’s what we did in our day:
Boulder City Spring Jamboree
Our first stop was at the annual Boulder City Spring Jamboree. Our family had fun at the kid zone, checking out the cars, shopping at local vendors, enjoying the entertainment, and looking at the rock and gem show!
It’s always held the first weekend in May so mark your calendar for next year’s Boulder City Spring Jamboree — May 3 & 4, 2025.

Nevada Southern Railway
Next up was a visit to the Nevada Southern Railway!
Train Rides
On Saturdays and Sundays you can take a 45-minute train ride. Tickets are only $5 for kids and $10 for adults!
Train rides are Saturdays and Sundays at 10am, 12pm, 2pm*, and 4pm*.
NOTE: In the summer the train only runs at 10am and 12pm because of excessive heat.
Open-air Pavilion
The Museum Pavilion is free and open daily 9am - 3:30pm. You can see the trains up-close!
They also have some really cool train sets you can see.
They have really cool mini train sets to check-out!
Lunch in Downtown Boulder City
We then headed back to downtown Boulder City for some lunch. They have so many great restaurants and I loved the vibe of downtown!
We ate at the Coffee Cup Cafe. This cafe was featured in Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives!
We’ve also heard great things about Chilly Jilly’z! We want to eat there during our next visit.
We also grabbed some candy and ice cream at the famous Grandma Daisy’s. We got the Huckleberry ice cream and it was really good!
Hemenway Park
We ended our day at one of the most beautiful parks — Hemenway Park! This park is super unique because you can often see Bighorn Sheep!
It has a fun playground for kids.
When we visited there weren’t any Bighorn Sheep, unfortunately. They do have a Ram Cam online that you can check to see if the Bighorn Sheep are there before visiting! Because they are wild animals there’s no set times when they are there, but I’ve heard it’s an incredible sight to see!
At the park they also have a trail you can take that has amazing views of Lake Mead.
We had the best day and can’t wait to go back and explore more!
